General

What is DiKAS?

DiKAS is a professional POS system for the hospitality industry. It runs in the browser on any device and offers POS, customer management, accounting, and optional modules such as Disco and Workshop.

What devices does DiKAS run on?

On anything with a browser: PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone. Additionally, there is a native Android app for offline operation.

Do I need special hardware?

No. DiKAS works with any device. Optional: receipt printer (ESC/POS), debit card terminal (ZVT), cash drawer, NFC reader.

Does DiKAS work offline?

Yes — with the Android app or with a local SQLite database. With CouchDB installations, data is automatically synchronized once the connection is restored.

What languages is DiKAS available in?

Currently only in German. Internationalization (i18n) is planned.


Costs

How much does DiKAS cost?

There are various models: - Cloud/SaaS: From 39 EUR/month (depending on feature scope) - Self-Hosted (Purchase): From 1,990 EUR one-time + optional maintenance contract - Android App: Local installation, one-time license fee

Are there transaction fees?

No. DiKAS does not charge percentage-based fees per card payment. You use your own debit card terminal with your own acquiring partner.

Do I have to buy hardware?

No. DiKAS runs on your existing devices (BYOD — Bring Your Own Device).

Is there a contract commitment?

No. Monthly cancellation, no minimum term.


POS & Operations

How do I perform an end-of-day report?

POS → Menu → End-of-day report → "Perform end-of-day report". → Detailed guide

Can I split payments?

Yes. When paying, select individual items → only those are charged, the rest remains on the table. → Detailed guide

How do I void a receipt?

Admin → Cash book → Find receipt → "Void" → Confirm with PIN. Voids are TSE-signed.

Can I sell and redeem vouchers?

Yes, both. Vouchers are automatically assigned a code when sold. The code is entered when redeeming. Partial redemption is possible. → Detailed guide

How does customer credit work?

Customers top up credit via cash or card. On the next visit, the credit is offered as a payment method. Optional with top-up bonus (e.g. 10% extra). → Detailed guide


Technical

What database does DiKAS use?

Three options: - CouchDB (Default) — Document database with replication - SQLite — Local file, no separate server needed - SQL Server — For enterprise environments

How do I create a backup?

Admin → Settings → System → Backup → "Create Backup". The ZIP file contains all data including images. → Detailed guide

Do I need a TSE?

Yes, mandatory in Germany since January 1, 2020. DiKAS supports hardware TSE (Swissbit) and TSE proxies. → Detailed guide

Can I run DiKAS on my own server?

Yes. DiKAS is available as a Docker image for self-hosted installations. → Docker guide

Is there an API?

Yes, a REST API with over 120 endpoints. Plus a legacy API for compatibility with existing integrations. → API documentation


Accounting

Can DiKAS export DATEV data?

Yes, in EXTF v13 format with 7 export modes. Directly importable into DATEV Unternehmen Online. → DATEV Export

Can I create invoices?

Yes, full customer invoices with dunning and SEPA direct debit. → Customer Invoices

Does DiKAS support SEPA direct debit?

Yes. SEPA files (pain.008) are generated and can be imported into online banking. → Banking & SEPA
